The Photographer Behind the Lens

I am Anandhu Unnimadhavan, a professional photographer based in Kochi, Kerala, with over four years of experience creating images that go beyond the surface — photographs that hold emotion, tell stories, and preserve moments that would otherwise dissolve into the ordinary flow of time.

Photography, for me, began as a personal pursuit — a way of seeing the world more attentively. Kerala is an extraordinary place to learn that discipline: a state of intense contrasts, where ancient traditions coexist with rapid modernity, where one of the world's most biodiverse ecosystems sits beside some of India's most dynamic urban centres. I found that wherever I pointed my camera — at a face, a forest, a fashion shoot — Kerala gave me something genuinely worth photographing.

Philosophy: Seeing Before Shooting

My approach across all genres — whether a fashion editorial in Kochi or a wildlife expedition in Wayanad — is rooted in the same principle: observation first, camera second. Great photographs are rarely taken; they are found. I spend time with my subjects, environments, and light conditions before I lift the viewfinder. This patience produces images that feel authentic rather than constructed.

For portrait and fashion work, that means building genuine comfort between subject and photographer before the session begins. For nature and wildlife, it means arriving early, moving slowly, and waiting for the world to offer what it will. For street photography, it means becoming part of the scene — invisible enough to capture life as it actually happens.

What Makes a Session Unique

Clients consistently describe sessions with me as collaborative and relaxed. I don't believe in rigid posing or manufactured expressions — real emotion is always more compelling. Every booking begins with a conversation about your vision, the story you want told, and the feeling you want preserved. From there, I handle the creative direction, location scouting, lighting design, and post-production — delivering final images that exceed expectations without requiring you to think about the technical details.
